What is FMEA?

FMEA is a qualitative method of analysing the technological equipment at component level. FMEA is a valuable tool for Identification, Quantification, Prioritization and Risk assessment, defect prevention in both stages: design or existing installation.

The method is very structured and requires a high definition of the system that is analyzed.

Using a variation of the method named FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis) , the quantitative data will be generated which will be useful to show compliance with standards or protocols that are required by the securirty criteria of the process.

The method is used mainly for mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.

FMEA analysis purposes

– Reduce the risk of failure

– Ensure that possible defects are detectable

– Prevention of damage

Why?

In order to keep under control potential failure modes and take counter measures for risk reduction.

The course offers significant issues, tips and best practices that analysts use to perform effectively FMEA analysis. The approach is intended to be practical and interactive.

In the same way, the course is designed to provide the paticipants with the knowledge and the practical skills needed to perform and interpret an FMEA analysis, particularly in those businesses where there are interdependent processes or workflows. For such purposes, examples and case studies for ensuring that safe operating procedures are implemented. Also, operation, startup and working of the installation goes without problems.

Identifying the hazards related to existing vulnerabilities is fundamental for safe design and operation of any system, whether it is a process in a petrochimical plant or any other one.

FMEA analysis method is practical, well developed and is useful in most applications.
